Lundy Diving was a long standing, passionate dream of Andrew Bengey. Andrew was born and bred in Ilfracombe Harbour and had an insatiable love for the ocean from an early age. This passion bred his business ‘Lundy Diving’, his passion for Lundy Island and its marine life was formed and he wanted to share this amazing little paradise with as many people as possible.

Lundy Diving was formed in 2001 and since then has taken thousands of scuba divers and snorkelers over there to enjoy the UKs first Marine conservation area with a no take zone and have incredible experiences with the large grey seal colony over there.

Andrews boat Obsession was named that by Dawn his wife because for him Lundy and the sea was an obsession and his life passion, that obsession was passed onto Ben his son who owns the second boat in the Lundy Diving fleet, Barbara B. Barbara B was named by ben after his nan Barbara who was one of the most Fearst women we knew after going blind during her life, and not letting that stop her do anything. If you go onto the wheelhouse onboard you’ll see a nod to her with a brail plaque to her memory.

Sadly in 2023 Andrew passed away unexpectedly and suddenly but not without leaving his legacy of Lundy behind. Unfortunately he never saw it on the TV but we are so proud to have watched his amazing contributions to the David Attenborough’s wild Ilses series.

As a family we came together to keep Lundy Diving going and a credit to Andrews legacy, with help from great skippers and crew we are able to do this, under Bens watchful eyes Dawn, Andrews wife has taken on all the shopping for the boat, so all those hot drinks and chocolate bars are down to her! As well the postage of all our new hoodies and swim hats and you’ll probably meet her as she meets everyone as they get onto the boat. Gemma, Andrew’s daughter has taken on the booking and admin roles and can be spotted crewing on occasion. Between us 3 we are working so hard as a family to keep Andrews love and legacy of Lundy going.

We truly are a family business with a great passion of keeping Lundy experience going and doing this in a way to protect the habitat of all the great Wildlife in our oceans.
